2200 SF One story residence. 700SF Garage, 2BR, 2-1/2 BA, Office, Dog Room.
The client chose to downsize from a large home in a gated community to a small one story residence on property used for a dog training business.
The home however was too small and was poorly designed and constructed. With a few small additions, complete gutting, and remodelling this home was transformed to feel much larger than the actual square footage. This was acheived by minimizing interior walls allowing spaces and sightlines to flow, maximizing ceiling heights and glass area, and opening up views to the exterior.
The exterior was designed to juxtapose stucco surfaces and metal gable roofs against red cedar siding and flat roofs. The addition of a trellis provides much needed summer shade while the trellis height lets in winter sun and allows the interior and exterior spaces below feel open and airy.
